Why the board matters more than the subject name
Two students in neighbouring Dubai schools can both be "doing A Level Chemistry" and be sitting materially different papers. Cambridge and Edexcel differ in content emphasis, in paper structure and in how practical work is assessed, and a tutor teaching the wrong specification will spend lesson time on topics that will not appear.
So the first thing we establish is the board, the specification code and which papers you sit. Everything after that — the topic order, the past papers, the mark schemes we work from — follows that decision rather than a generic syllabus.

A Levels and university applications from the UAE
A Level grades usually carry the offer, but competitive courses increasingly add an admissions test on top — UCAT for medicine, LNAT for law. If that applies to you, the two timelines need planning together, because both peak in the same school year.
Predicted grades and the timing problem
Predicted grades are issued well before the final exams, based on mocks and classwork. For students applying through UCAS, that means the grade a university sees is formed months before the grade a student is capable of.
Practically, this moves the deadline forward: work that lifts performance has to land before the mocks, not after them. Students who come to us in the autumn of Year 13 are working on the prediction; students who come in February are working on the final result. Both are worth doing, but they are different jobs and we plan them differently.
