Where marks are actually lost
Every extended answer is marked in layers — knowledge, application, analysis, evaluation — and the upper layers are only available if the lower ones are anchored in the case study. An answer full of accurate business theory that never names the company, its market or its numbers is capped low no matter how well written it is. Application is not decoration; it is the gate to the marks above it.
The quantitative content is the other quiet loss. Ratios, break-even, investment appraisal and index numbers appear in small amounts, are often taught briskly, and then carry marks that students who "are not maths people" simply concede. It is a short, finite body of technique, and it is usually the fastest grade improvement available on this subject.
