What the LSAT actually tests
The LSAT contains no law. It tests whether you can identify the structure of an argument — the conclusion, the support offered for it, and the assumption quietly holding the two together — and do that accurately at speed. Candidates who arrive expecting legal content are usually relieved, and then surprised by how difficult a test with no syllabus can be.
Because there is no content to learn, improvement comes almost entirely from method and repetition. A candidate who can name why each wrong answer is wrong, rather than only why the right one is right, is the one whose score moves. That is the habit lessons are built to install.
How lessons are structured
Argument anatomy
Separating conclusion from premise reliably, which most of the section depends on.
Question-type drilling
Strengthen, weaken, flaw and assumption questions each reward a different reading. Practising them mixed hides that.
Reading Comprehension
Dense passages read for structure and author stance rather than detail, with the comparative passage set handled separately.
Timed sections
Building up from untimed accuracy to full timing, in that order. Speed before accuracy just entrenches errors.
Error logging
A written record of every miss and its cause, reviewed for patterns rather than case by case.
LSAT Writing
The separately administered writing sample, which is unscored but sent to schools.

The LSAT has been revised, including the removal of the Analytical Reasoning "logic games" section. Older preparation books still teach it. Confirm the current format with LSAC before buying materials or following a study plan you find online.
