The mistake almost everyone makes
A practice test tells you two things: a score, and a list of what went wrong. Nearly everyone reads the first and skims the second. The score is the least useful output — it measures where you already were, and it changes nothing by itself.
The list is where the value is, and extracting it takes roughly as long as sitting the test did. A student who takes six practice tests and reviews none of them properly has spent eighteen hours confirming the same weaknesses six times.
How we run the cycle
Sit it properly
Full length, real timing, in Bluebook, without pausing. A test taken in two halves on different days measures something else.
Self-review first
Before the lesson, the student revisits every wrong answer and every guess, and attempts it again untimed.
Classify together
In the lesson we sort every error into content gap, misread, timing casualty or careless slip.
Act on the pattern
The next two weeks of work are set by whichever category dominates, rather than by the syllabus order.
How often to sit one
Roughly every two weeks during an active preparation period. More often leaves no time to fix anything between them, which makes the sequence a measurement exercise rather than a training one. Less often and timing stamina does not build.
