AP WORLD HISTORY: MODERN

AP World History: Modern Tutoring for Students in the UAE

World History covers eight centuries and every inhabited region, so the examined skill has to be comparison rather than recall.

  • 3 examined components, weighted as shown below
  • 9 syllabus areas mapped to your scheme of work
  • Taught by a specialist in this subject, not a generalist
  • 90-minute online lessons, scheduled in UAE time

How it is examined

The components, what each one is worth, and what it asks for. Planning revision without this in front of you is how students spend weeks on the part that carries the fewest marks.

What the syllabus covers

Unit by unit, in the awarding body’s own terms so you can match it against your school’s scheme of work.

  • Units 1–3 (1200–1750)

The Mongol Empire and Silk Road / Indian Ocean networks · Maritime exploration and the Columbian Exchange · Comparative analysis of Ottoman, Mughal, Ming/Qing and European empires

  • Units 4–6 (1750–1900)

Enlightenment, French Revolution and nationalist movements · Industrial Revolution and global economic transformation · Imperialism, colonialism and resistance movements

  • Units 7–9 (1900–Present)

World wars and post-colonial independence movements · Cold War and the bipolar world order · Globalisation, the technological revolution and contemporary challenges

Where marks are actually lost

Questions ask for continuity and change over time, causation, and comparison between regions, and the marks go to the analytical move rather than to the detail. A student with three good examples per era, used flexibly, beats one with thirty facts and no framework. Accepting that you cannot know everything — and organising what you do know by theme — is the strategic decision the course requires.

Contextualisation is the point students lose most often on the essays: a sentence or two placing the question in a broader development before answering it. It is quick, it is specified in the rubric, and it is routinely skipped because it feels like preamble rather than content.

The date is not yours to move

AP exams sit in a fixed May window set by the College Board, so preparation has a hard deadline a private schedule cannot shift. If your school does not teach this course, you are buying a full year of teaching rather than top-up lessons, and starting in February is a materially different proposition from starting in September.

Related programs

Other preparation tracks students often combine with this one.

  • AP Tutoring

Subject-by-subject Advanced Placement tutoring for students at American-curriculum schools across the UAE. Lessons target the exam as College Board actually marks it, not a general reading of the topic.

  • AP Pricing

AP is priced per subject, and the full-subject package is the lowest per-lesson rate on this site — because an AP is a year-long course, not a test technique.

  • How it works

Every student starts with a free consultation and ends with a plan that has a date on it. What happens in between depends on which exam you are sitting.
