IGCSE Environmental Management Tutoring for Students in the UAE
A data-heavy subject that reads as if it should be an essay subject, which is where most of the lost marks come from. Cambridge 0680 is untiered, so every grade is available to every candidate — what separates them is precision with figures and named examples.
- The full assessment structure, read from the published syllabus
- 12 syllabus areas mapped to your school’s scheme of work
- Taught by a specialist in this subject, not a generalist
- 90-minute online lessons, scheduled in UAE time
How Environmental Management is assessed, board by board
One awarding body's specification is set out below, with a link to the syllabus it was read from and the date it was checked. If your school uses a different board for Environmental Management, send us the specification code and we will confirm what changes.
Cambridge International
Cambridge IGCSE Environmental Management (0680)
| Component | Weight | Length | What it asks for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper 1: Principles of Environmental Management | 50% | 1 hour 45 min · 80 marks | structured questions and data response |
| Paper 2: Environmental Management in Context | 50% | 1 hour 45 min · 80 marks | structured questions, data response and extended response |
- Untiered — every candidate sits the same two papers and A* is reachable from them. Pearson’s International GCSE range does not include Environmental Management, so a school offering it is offering the Cambridge syllabus.
Read from the published syllabus and checked on 2026-09-22.
Weightings are the awarding body’s own published figures. Where a board tiers the entry, the same weighting applies to both tiers — what changes is the grade range available.
What students usually need help with
Not a list of topics — a list of the specific things that cost marks in Environmental Management regardless of how well the content is known.
Data response technique
Both papers put figures, maps and graphs in front of you and award marks for reading them accurately before interpreting them.
Named case studies
Answers that describe "a country" score below answers that name one and quote a figure. Building a small bank of examples is most of the revision.
Evaluation, not description
The higher-mark questions ask whether a management strategy works and for whom — a judgement supported by evidence, not a list of advantages.
Regional relevance
Water scarcity, desalination and energy transition are live issues in the Emirates, which makes local examples usable and memorable.
What the syllabus covers
The content both boards cover, grouped by area. Unit names and their order differ by specification — this shows the shape of the course; your own syllabus shows what is examinable.
Rocks, minerals and energy
Formation and extraction of rocks and minerals · Fossil fuels and their environmental impact · Renewable energy sources and their limitations · Managing energy demand
Agriculture, water and the atmosphere
Soil, food production and agricultural systems · Water supply, quality and scarcity · Atmospheric pollution, acid rain and climate change · Managing water resources sustainably
Natural ecosystems and human activity
Ecosystems, biodiversity and conservation · Deforestation, desertification and habitat loss · Population growth, urbanisation and resource pressure · Sustainable development and management strategies
Where marks are actually lost
Students treat this as a subject you can talk your way through, and the mark scheme does not agree. Both papers are built around stimulus material, and the first marks in almost every question are for using it — quoting the figure, reading the trend from the graph, naming what the map shows. Answers written from general knowledge, however well informed, skip those marks entirely and then compete for the interpretation marks with students who have already banked them.
The second pattern is the evaluation question. "Assess the effectiveness of…" is not asking for advantages and disadvantages in two lists; it is asking for a judgement with a reason and a named case behind it. Students who have one well-rehearsed example per topic — a specific dam, a specific fishery, a specific city’s water strategy — consistently outperform students who know more environmental science but nothing in particular.
Send the specification code
Two students can both be "doing IGCSE Environmental Management" and sit different papers, at different lengths, with a different grade ceiling. The specification code — 0610, 4BI1 and so on — is on the front of your syllabus and on every past paper, and it is the first thing we ask for. With it we can put you with a tutor who has taught that paper; without it, the subject match can be right and the exam preparation wrong.

IGCSE Tutoring
Subject tutoring for Year 10 and Year 11 students working towards IGCSE or GCSE. Lessons follow your school’s board and specification, with past papers from the start rather than at the end.
IGCSE Pricing
IGCSE tutoring is priced per subject. Starting in Year 10 rather than Year 11 is the single biggest thing a family can do to reduce what it spends.
How it works
Every student starts with a free consultation and ends with a plan that has a date on it. What happens in between depends on which exam you are sitting.
Tell us where Environmental Management is going wrong
Send a recent piece of marked work or a past paper with the marks on it, and tell us the specification code. That shows us more in five minutes than a description of the problem does in an hour.
