Where marks are actually lost
A typical free-response question asks you to move from the money market to the loanable funds market to aggregate demand to the foreign exchange market, and each step depends on the last. Students who know each diagram individually but have not practised the chain get the first step right and lose everything after it. Drilling the transmission — what a rate change does, in order, to each market — is the specific work this exam needs.
The second loss is direction and sign: whether a policy is expansionary or contractionary, whether a currency appreciates, whether the effect is on nominal or real variables. These are small decisions that flip whole answers, and they respond to deliberate practice rather than to more reading.
The date is not yours to move
AP exams sit in a fixed May window set by the College Board, so preparation has a hard deadline a private schedule cannot shift. If your school does not teach this course, you are buying a full year of teaching rather than top-up lessons, and starting in February is a materially different proposition from starting in September.
