Why intensity is the wrong thing to buy here
The SSAT is sat by children, and the temptation for a family working to a school deadline is to buy a large package and use it quickly. That usually costs more and achieves less. Vocabulary — the slowest and highest-yield component — builds through spaced exposure over months and simply cannot be compressed into six weeks. Ten lessons across a term, with structured work between them, outperforms twenty lessons across six weeks for almost every child at this age.
The second reason is less measurable and more important. A child drilled into resenting the test performs worse on the day, and the effect is large enough to undo the content gains. Our SSAT sessions are shorter than our other lessons and full-length practice tests are used sparingly for exactly this reason.
Percentiles are against a selective group
SSAT percentiles compare your child against others applying to selective schools, not against children generally. A 60th percentile is a solid result in that company. Reading it as mediocre leads families to buy preparation they do not need, so it is worth understanding the scale before deciding what to spend.
One-to-one lesson packages
Every lesson is 90 minutes with the same tutor. The per-lesson rate falls as the package grows, and the single lesson exists so you can meet a tutor before committing to a block.
